Medically reviewed by Mr. Pratik Masal, MBA (Healthcare Management)
Bipolar disorder is a long-term mental health condition in which mood swings between episodes of mania or hypomania (elevated, energised or irritable states) and episodes of depression, with periods of stability in between. Sharanam provides medically supervised residential care for people with bipolar disorder, focused on mood stabilisation, consistent medication and relapse prevention.
What the care involves
- Consultant psychiatric assessment and regular review.
- Mood-stabiliser and other medication management, with monitoring and blood-level checks where required.
- Individual and group therapy, including psychoeducation about the illness.
- A structured routine with regular sleep — disrupted sleep is a common relapse trigger.
- Early-warning-sign recognition and relapse-prevention planning.
- Family involvement and support.
An honest word on what to expect
Bipolar disorder is a lifelong condition. With consistent treatment most people achieve long periods of stability, but the goal is management and fewer relapses, not a cure. Longer-term structured recovery is supported through our psychiatric rehabilitation program.
