Anxiety disorders are a group of conditions — including generalised anxiety disorder, panic disorder and social anxiety — marked by persistent, excessive fear or worry that is out of proportion to the situation and interferes with everyday life. Sharanam provides medically supervised residential care for people whose anxiety has become severe, disabling or resistant to outpatient treatment.
What the treatment involves
- Psychiatric assessment and, where relevant, screening for co-occurring depression.
- Medication management where indicated, with monitoring for side effects.
- Cognitive behavioural and exposure-based therapy, delivered consistently.
- Relaxation, breathing and grounding techniques taught and practised daily.
- A calm, structured routine that reduces avoidance and rebuilds confidence.
- Family education and relapse-prevention planning.
What to expect
Anxiety disorders are highly treatable, but progress is gradual and the coping skills need ongoing practice. The realistic goal is manageable, functional living rather than the complete absence of anxiety.
